Reflection about Literacy Narrative

I used genre of literacy narrative to write my story. A mystery movie changed my thoughts about writing. I also would like the professor can have new understanding about my personality after my professor read my narrative. I wrote about a play I watched, and I talked about the drama review from my understanding. Because I thought I have some similar parts with the heroine of the movie. Finally, I summarized how this paly affect me as a writer and a reader. This assignment mostly like a self-inspect narrative.

I learned how to write literacy narrative. I chose a movie as the setting of this assignment. And this paly was related to my personality. I think this would be interesting to readers when I talked about the drama of the play. I also considered the rhetorical situation. The rhetorical situation includes several aspects, purpose, audience, stance and media. I think about purpose, audience and stance to confirm the content of narrative. I found many special lines of the movie from the Internet, and I acted these lines into my narrative. This can let readers hear the dialogue between the characters. I summarized the drama of the play. The drama of the play is interesting and can make the readers read on.

The social or collaborative aspect of my writing process was peer reviews. I changed a lot of content of my assignment. Because I did not mention that how this play grow me up as a writer and reader. And I deleted my first paragraph I wrote before. Peer review is a good way for me to improve my article. But I feel sorry about my peer. I can not give her good suggestions to improve her essay, because I am not good at writing. I will try to write a better essay.

Reflection about Expository Essay

The genre of this essay is the expository essay. I need to cite two quotes from Madness and Masquerade. Based on the understanding of the character I chose, I need to find other two sources from the websites in the internet. The audience of this essay can be my professor and the classmates for the peer review. I would like to introduce the character Hannibal Lecter. The social or collaborative aspect of my writing process was peer reviews. I change a lot of grammar problems. What’s more, I used the transitions to make a bridge between each paragraph.

When I wrote this essay, I think the choice of quotes are difficult. I need to think a lot of the connection between the character I chose and the content of Madness and Masquerade. The quote which from the another story may have a kind of relationship with the character I wrote about. Before I started the first body paragraph, I need to read the articles which are the outside sources first. Then I considered lots of things how to connect them together. Compared to the body paragraph, the introduction and conclusion are harder. I didn’t know how to write a good introduction, even the introduction is only included by hook, summary and thesis. When I wrote the conclusion, I am not sure what can I wrote. My friends told me to summarize my thesis. Then I am confusing, I have summarized the thesis in the introduction.  Why do I need to do the same thing  for the conclusion? I was trying to analysis the quote not only the summarized with my primary psychological knowledge to explain the personality and actions of the character.

Reflection about Critical Analysis Essay

I think the critical analysis essay is a kind of interesting genre. In general, we would not explore the implication of books when we read books. This assignment gives us a chance that makes us closer to the mind of authors. The novella, Diary of a Madman is a diary entry which narrative by a schizophrenic central character. The diary should be private nowadays, but the author uses this genre to increase the range of audience. This book usually is referred to discuss schizophrenia, but the themes of the book are informative that it mentioned many other aspects like the social hierarchy. The novel also uses many rhetorical situations like metaphors. The dogs are the symbol of metaphor, the dogs symbolize the upper women in that period of Russia.  The background of this novel is referred to the social aspects, I went to search for some information about the social class in the nineteenth century of Russia when I started writing the critical analysis essay. This assignment required that we need to cite at least two citations from the school library’s databases. I think this requirement is helpful for us to search outside sources skillfully. The critical analysis essay is different from the previous essay we wrote. The main purpose of the critical analysis essay is to practice our analysis skill to books or articles. Compare to expository essays, the critical analysis essays need to focus on exploring the themes and the rhetorical situation in the book, not only just research some outside sources. Literacy narrative essays were talking about the entries of ourselves, but the critical analysis essays need us to talk about the story other people wrote. Unfortunately, I still do not get how to use the rhetorical terms in my own writing.
